Sherry has a BS in Education from Concordia University in Seward, NE and a MS in Edcation from The Ohio State University. Sherry has taught in 3rd through 12th grade in private and public schools for 22 years. She also taught Math and Science with an Inquiry emphasis at Cascade College, Earthquake "Tremor Troops" for FEMA to teachers and has served on the Oregon State Science Content Panel for 8 years. Sherry presently teaches Scientific Inquiry to teachers in surrounding school districts and presents "Simply Science" workshops to schools who adopt the Simply Science curriculum.
Angela Freeman
Sixth grade math teacher, Beaverton school district.
Angela previously taught Seventh grade Language Arts and Social Studies in Portland Public Schools, and fifth grade for four years prior to that. Angela currently supervises pre-service teachers through Oregon State University. She has a BA in Psychology, Minor and Certificate in Black Studies from Portland State University as well as a masters in Education through Portland State University.
Karen Juergens
Karen Juergens has been in Education for almost 30 years. For many of those years she was a Speech and Language Pathologist in schools, nursing homes, home health care and private practice. Karen came to Beaverton Schools in 1987 to be a Speech Pathologist. Her interest in language development and the Spanish language led her into ESL three years ago. Karen now runs the ESL program at Stoller Middle School and enjoys working with students from all over the world. This summer Karen plans to co-teach a Special Education/ELL class in the Beaverton Schools Summer Institute.
Joanna M. Piatek
English as a Second Language Teacher, North Clackamas School District.
Joanna has a BA in Anthropology, with special focus in South and Southeast Asian Cultures and Master of Art in Teaching from Willamette University. Joanna has taught Newcomers at an Elementary level and Sheltered Core Subjects at a Title 1 Middle School. She received a TOFL endorsement while teaching English in Tuscany, Italy, and has traveled on 4 continents, studying the arts, history and people of the regions.
