Collage Artist Diane O'Leary

Diane O'Leary uses art to promote conservation of the ocean. Her brilliantly colored collages are expressions of love for a critically threatened estuary and include representations of a number of species no longer found in Tillamook Bay. Diane begins with a gyotaku, or an impression taken from a real fish. Her collages of cloth and paint were one of the first ever exhibited on the walls of the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport.

In 1994 Mike Mignola's first Hellboy story, "The Seed of Destruction," was published by Dark Horse Comics. The series about a paranormal investigator from Hell soon proved to be a popular and critical success with its abstract artwork and H.P. Lovecraft-style horror. It helped make Dark Horse, headquartered in Milwaukie, Oregon, one of the leading publishers of adult comics in the world.
