- Entomologist Jim McIver takes us to Prineville where we discover some of the secrets of thatch ants. Their name refers to the thatch-like colony where they live. These ants also tend to aphids, who provide them with honeydew, and collect other food from the sagebrush terrain.

- Take a hike with leader Mary Vogel through some of the most dramatic and beautiful ancient forests in Oregon. The first day is a hike along the South Breitenbush trail among Douglas firs, hemlocks, and cedars. Day two is an eastside hike through ponderosa pines along the Metolius River. The third day is a hike to see Alaskan yellow cedars, a Douglas fir over 700 years old, and a beaver pond.
