$75k Stambaugh Settlement
Remember the student teacher who claimed discrimination when he was reassigned from the Beaverton School District after he had an exchange with a student that a parent found inappropriate? A student asked Seth Stambaugh if he was married. Stambaugh said he wasn't because it was illegal for him to marry another man.
We talked about Stambaugh's situation in October. It was around the same time national attention focused on several suicides by teenagers who had faced some kind of harrassment or teasing because they were gay or called gay.
Shortly after the show Stambaugh got a new teaching assignment. Now he has settled with the Beaverton School District for $75,000. According to a district press release, Beaverton schools will also do some "leadership training" on gender and sexual identity issues.

Do I remember hearing that he got a new placement at the same school? If so, good for him! And good for the school district, finally doing something right. Had they backed him up in the first place, it might not have cost them $75,000 that they could ill-afford to spend on non-educational expenses. (Though I suppose they may have learned a lesson as a result.)
