Poet Shaindel Beers talked about connections between writing and addiction, among many other things on yesterday's program. One of the best books I've ever read about reporting from war zones takes that head on. Anthony Loyd's My War Gone By, I Miss It So flips between his work as a photographer in Bosnia and Chechnya, and his off-time in London, where he resumes a heroin habit.
It's honest and awful. And worth every page.
