Free Trade Olympic Tix
I meant my characterization of a 30% markup of Olympic tickets for Americans as an affront to free trade as a bit of a joke on today's show. But in good diplomatic style, Ambassador Michael Wilson answered straight: he didn't know anything about it.
After the program, the Canadian officials travelling with Wilson assured me it has nothing to do with Canada, and everything to do with a contract between the International Olympic Committee and CoSport, the sole company contracted to sell Olympics tickets in the U.S.
But this article by Ron Judd, who's been following the story for The Seattle Times, implies the Vancouver (Olympic) Organizing Committee is part of the problem. I'll clarify here as I find out more.
