Next Week on TOL
Each Friday the TOL team gathers for a meeting of the minds, a pitching of ideas, and a calendaring of thoughts. We try to come out of our editorial gathering with a plan for the week-to-come. What stories will we try to cover, and when? Of course our final lineup doesn't always match our initial plans, and so we've been hesitant in the past to publicize them. But lately we've come to the conclusion (with the help of some you keen listeners out there...) that letting you know what we're planning is probably more valuable than keeping it secret -- even if we do end up changing our minds, or reacting to breaking news, every now and then. Here's what next week looks like right now:
Monday: Forget "Main Street." How is the economic crisis hitting your street? From skipping doctors visits to not buying cars, how are people (and companies) starting to feel the pinch?
Tuesday: Early voting has gotten a lot of attention all over the country over the last week. Should Oregon's vote by mail system be a model for the rest of the nation?
Tuesday night from 9 - 11 pm: The Think Out Loud Election Night Special. Join Emily and David and the entire OPB News team as we report on the state's election results, hear from winners and losers, and react to what's happening across the country.
Wednesday: Did you miss the big news last night? We'll have the recap, and interviews with many of the winners on the day after the election.
Thursday: What do you think of graphic novels? They're growing in popularity, and they're a big part of the Wordstock Festival this year. We'll speak with authors and critics of these popular books.
Friday: New research shows that dams are possibly not to blame for salmon deaths. This turns a number of old assumptions on their heads. What might it mean for energy policy and watershed management?
Are we missing a big story? Let me know!
