It's hard to pick just a few photos from four glorious days in Eastern Oregon, but we do what we have to do.
An advance team of us descended on Pendleton on Friday night to scope out the Arts Center for the Tuesday show, and just to get the lay of the land. By luck our visit coincided with the second annual Cattle Barons Weekend. This meant a Friday pub crawl (we made it to six of the ten or so watering holes), followed by an impromptu hotel room glee club formation:

Saturday brought a cowboy auction, and some extreme bronc riding:
This guy tried to up his score by ripping off his shirt (the judges were impressed — as was a certain executive producer — but he still came in second):
We even saw a buckaroo in training:
From Pendleton, we hit the road for La Grande. In May, the drive is chock-full of blue sky, marshmallow clouds, and rolling green:
Monday morning and evening shows were from Eastern Oregon University:
