Listen here (mp3) to Michael Dimond describe why he went into business for himself. Dimond teaches entrepreneurship at Portland State University and describes himself as a "serial entrepreneur." He's owned more than a dozen businesses over the years, a path he followed after a major lightbulb went off in his head.
And here (mp3), Mike McLeren talks about going back to school after being laid off from Freightliner. He's retraining to work in water treatment. The opportunity for a free education did offer a bit of a silver lining around the layoff, but it's been harder than he'd hoped.
