A new bill in the Oregon legislature would make it possible for you to share your car for a fee with a friend or neighbor — or even a stranger. A similar bill in California just went into effect this year and it's apparently catching on. The first guy to start a formal car sharing business in Portland, Dave Brooks, says the bill is mostly about protecting people from being dropped by their insurance company if they choose to do this. That's what he says has been stopping people from more formal car sharing up to this point.
Would you share your car with friends, neighbors or strangers? Why or why not? Do you already car share informally? How's that going? Have you used a car sharing company before? What was your experience?
