It's rare to go anywhere these days and not see someone playing with a smart phone, plugged into an iPod or absorbed by their laptop. Author Cathy Davidson says you'd think schools would have gotten better at integrating technology into classroom curricula. In her new book, Now You See It, she asks how the nation's education system could be doing a better job.
Davidson is a Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies at Duke University and the co-founder of the MacArthur Foundation Digital Media and Learning Competition. She argues the entire education system needs a makeover. Simply adding computers to a classroom isn't nearly enough — she says the entire curriculum needs to be changed to work with that technology. This is important in and of itself, but also because she says 65 percent of the jobs that grade school kids will be doing haven't even been invented yet.
