We begin a regular series of conversations checking in on OPB's environmental coverage. You might have heard of fracking, or hydraulic fracturing, as a way of extracting natural gas. Fracking is a much bigger issue elsewhere in the country and in Canada, but in Idaho, near Oregon's border, controversy about the practice is starting to roil. Oregon's south coast saw fracking about five years ago — the wells are idle but still operational. We'll get the lowdown from EarthFix investigative reporter Bonnie Stewart, who worked with Idaho-based reporter Aaron Kunz on the story.

What questions do you have about fracking?
