As populations increase around the world, the demand for food and, more specifically, grain is also expanding. Oregon stands to benefit from this growth in the grain market, particularly when it comes to wheat. Corn, soybeans and wheat are all exported from the Port of Portland and much of the wheat that leaves our shores was grown here in the Pacific Northwest. China is one of the biggest recipients of these grains. Its growing middle class is eating more meat, and increasingly those extra livestock are munching on American soybeans.

Are you a wheat farmer? Do you work in exports? How do you see the global grain market affecting you?
