Rebels in Libya moved into Tripoli on Sunday in what appeared to be the final days of the Gadhafi regime. But as of Tuesday morning there was still fighting between rebels and Gadhafi loyalists.
The revolution in Libya began with protests in February. It followed successful revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt. But unlike those uprisings, Libya's developed into civil war. A European-led no-fly zone, which the United States is helping enforce, was imposed in March.
As of July 31, the United States had spent $896 million on operations in Libya. For comparison, the Pentagon is requesting $107 billion in the next fiscal year to pay for operations in Afghanistan.
We covered the revolution in Libya and the United States' military role in the conflict in March, but a lot has changed since then.
