Update: The New York Times is now reporting the Obama Administration suspects the attack may have been planned.

News broke today that the U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three of his staffers were killed in an attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. The attackers appear to have been a part of an armed and angry mob that surrounded the consulate reacting to a film made by a filmmaker named Sam Bacile. Protesters in both Libya and Egypt claim the film, called Innocence of Muslims, disrespects the Prophet Muhammad.

Jamal Tarhuni, chairman of the Libyan Community Association of Oregon, condemns the attack and says he thinks the motivations may run deeper than the film itself. He told us he sees possible connections to the defunct Gaddafi regime as well as religious motivations for the violence. "I am just in disbelief about how a small group of people could do a savage thing like this," he said.

Do you have a connection to Libya? Have you watched the clips of Bacile's film available on YouTube? What is your reaction to this news?
