Portland Mayor Sam Adams announced last Friday that the he's abandoned his effort to go forward with the Oregon Sustainability Center. After months of trying to get funding and campaigning on behalf of this 'laboratory for green technology,' Adams says he doesn't have the votes to make this project come to life.

Although the project has been scaled back several times to be more cost-efficient, lawmakers said no to using state-backed bonds to fund the construction. He added this week that he didn't have the votes to get it through the Portland City Council.

Mayor Sam Adams abandoned the proposal, but it might not be the end of the road for the Oregon Sustainability Center. Interface Engineering, a private company, has shown interest in becoming a possible owner and carrying this project onward.

Do you want the Oregon Sustainability Center to be built? How should the city move forward now that Mayor Sam Adams called it quits?
