Remembering Don McIntire

Today we remember the fierce anti-tax activist, Don McIntire, who was found dead in his Gresham home on Friday. He was 74. His wife said he died of a heart attack. McIntire was perhaps best known for pushing Measure 5 which passed in 1990. The measure limited property taxes and changed the way schools are funded in Oregon.

McIntire had been a guest on this show many times. One of his appearances was on the 20th anniversary of Measure 5. He explained his thoughts on why property taxes should not be tied to school funding:
