The city of Ashland has put an "unsafe" sign on the front doors of the Angus Bowmer Theatre. A damaged structural support beam has shut down the main theater for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) until further notice. The Bowmer is the festival's main indoor theater.

Officials say they don't know what caused damage to the 70-foot beam, which runs parallel to the stage.

So far, all of the 16 performances at the theater this week have been restaged at alternate venues, representing 9,600 ticket holders. Insiders say it is too soon to estimate lost revenue.

Ticket holders were offered a free, minimalist version of the three plays — performed with no set or costumes at the Historic Ashland Armory a few blocks away from the Bowmer. It's not clear when the theater could reopen.

Did structural damage derail your plans to attend the Oregon Shakespeare Festival?
