The coastal community of Waldport is welcoming home Lincoln City police officer Steven Dodds. You probably remember Dodds as the officer who was critically shot during a traffic stop in Waldport on Jan. 23. Think Out Loud traveled to Waldport later that week to find out the community was coping. Two months later, Dodds is being released from Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland Saturday and driven by limousine (donated by Chinook Winds Casino) to a crowd of friends and well wishers at Taft High School in Lincoln City.
The Lincoln City Police Department, Oregon State Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation are jointly searching for prime suspect in the shooting, David Duhram. Lt. Jerry Palmer of the Lincoln City Police Department says he hopes the public will come forward with a tip that will lead to Duhram's capture.
Were you affected by the shooting or search in Waldport? What, if anything, have you done differently since the incident?
GUESTS:
- Lt. Jerry Palmer: Supervises detectives on the Lincoln City Police Department
