The business world is abuzz with news that the Dow has crossed the 13,000 mark for the first time since the economic crisis began four years ago. And there's mixed news for jobseekers in Oregon.
The unemployment rate fell in January, but Employment Department numbers also show there are about 5.8 unemployed Oregonians for every job opening in the state. On Monday, the Oregon legislature passed a bill that would prohibit discrimmination against unemployed people in job listings.
Lawmakers also passed legislation that solidifies tax breaks for companies that choose to build in the state's enterprise zones. This affects the data center Facebook built in Prineville two years ago and the one Apple recently announced they will build nearby.
