UPDATE Apr. 25 9:50amThe Gresham-Barlow district and the teachers' union have reached a tentative agreement and classes are expected to resume Thursday.

UPDATE Apr. 25 6:50am According to the Gresham-Barlow Education Association website, the union is officially on strike this morning.

The Gresham-Barlow School District cancelled all classes for Wednesday in anticipation of a possible teacher strike. Negotiations are ongoing and the district could reach a settlement with the union in time to avoid a strike scheduled for Wednesday morning.

A couple of weeks ago, we talked about two East Multnomah County school districts facing possible teacher strikes. On April 11, teachers' unions in the Gresham-Barlow and Parkrose school districts both voted to approve a strike. Since then, the Parkrose Faculty Association and the Parkrose School District have reached a tentative agreement. But the Gresham-Barlow Education Association remains at odds with its district over compensation, teachers' schedules and other issues.
Parents can get up-to-date information about the negotiations via a hotline set up by the Gresham-Barlow School District.

This would be the first teacher strike in Oregon since 2006.

Do you have kids in the Gresham-Barlow School District? What's your reaction to the possible strike?
