An investigation by The Oregonian highlighted the issue of TriMet bus and MAX driver fatigue, pointing out that drivers have been working more overtime hours since the agency instituted a hiring freeze. We recently spoke about this with the Oregonian reporter who broke the story and a representative from TriMet. Today we'll hear from the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 757 about what they are calling a "stop gap solution" (pdf) to the issue of driver fatigue.

The union of TriMet workers is asking the agency to make some immediate changes to its hours of service policy. Among the proposed changes: limiting drivers' workdays to 12 hours and requiring ten consecutive hours off in between shifts.

Are you a TriMet rider? Do you have experience as a bus or MAX driver? What's your response to the union's proposal?
