Weekend Look-Ahead 10/14
The weather is becoming rainier, the leaves have begun to turn, and the nights are getting colder. So what options do you have for your weekend?
If the fall colors draw you outside, the Deschutes River is fertile recreation territory right now. You could go steelhead fishing, mountain biking, or horseback riding. For hunters, Saturday marks the start of duck and goose season in Western Oregon. Turkey season also opens in much of the state the same day, in case you're hoping to bag your own Thanksgiving bird. Plus, if you're interested in, but wary of, mushrooms, Oregon Parks and Recreation is offering a free guided wild mushroom hike.
If the weather keeps you indoors, there are plenty of cultural events around Portland. There are a few theater openings this weekend. Plus Floyd Skloot and Jeffery Eugenides are reading in town on Sunday. And Curious Comedy hosts their "Instant Comedy" stand-up/improv mash-up events on Friday and Saturday.
That's what we're looking at. What do you have planned?
