on The Plan for Afghanistan

The problem is with Pakistan and 50 nuclear weapons that they control. The west is afraid these bombs will fall into the hands of Islamic extremists The Pakistan government is not strong and the risk is real. The solution is not clear and Obama’s speach was smoke and mirrors and vague statements of what, why, and for how long.  There is no military solution and our tax dollars should be spent within the borders of the USA.  Spending outside our borders just weakens our economy as we have seen in the last ten years and is just what the Islamic extremists want.

on Bike Plan 2030

I don't hear any discussion about the weather.  Lets face this limitation and not distort the bicycle partisipation in the bad weather.  How many people rode thier bicycle today? (40 degrees, rainy and a little windy).  I think everyone is enthusiastic on a sunny day but half our days are not sunny.  Could we make some of the bicycle resources seasonal adjusted?  Available in the summer only.

on Congressional Opinions on the Bail Out

Why does the bailout not include any releif for home owners facing foreclosure? Hilary Clinton suggested freezing all foreclosures for three months and reviewing each case to see if terms could be met that would keep buyers in thier homes. Foreclosure is at the root of this problem so why is it not included in the solution? Also if the organization that made the loan was required to keep the loan (not sell it) then higher quality loans would be made. Common sense regulation need to be in place.

on From The Conventions: Undercurrents and Issues

Sarah Palins circumstance with her pregnant 17 year old daughter is the ultimate example of her failed philosophy of abstenance only birth control. Clearly it does not work. Sarah Palin is against condoms, birth control pills, and any other method of birth control other than abstenance. A very unrealistic point of view even for her own family. Is this the example we want to hold up for the future of America?

on Plant Power

I understand that if all agriculture is converted to bio-fuels the total output would still only be a small percentage of what is used today. Thus bio-fuels alone does not solve the transportation problem. Also vehicle efficiency was not mentioned in th discussion. A solution would be for inner city vehicles to be powered by batter/electric sources and only long haul vehicles would use gas/diesel. The electricty shold be generated from wind and solar.
