Mister Richard's comments:
on Worthington Trial: The Verdict Is In
If it's God's will that 78 children from that church died, who, in their right mind, would want to worship such a deity?

on Jobs In the Recession
I was laid off in May 2008 and have been unemployed ever since. The biggest challenge with continuing layoffs across the board has meant tremendous competition for any advertised position. For instance, I took an editing test for a job a couple weeks ago and later learned 50+ people took the test. In a decent economy that number would have been 10-15. Finding a job today means battling it out with many, many others.

on The Blazers Blackout
It's all about money and you can bet Comcast is asking the satellite providers for a bundle, which of course, will be passed on the consumer. I believe the Blazers (and Ducks) owe it to their fans to mediate this conflict in favor of the fans.

on Student Debt
In 1996, I entered grad school at PSU and continued for 2-1/2 years, attending summers as well. Taking classes at night and financed by student loans, I accrued $30,000 of debt which, ten years later, I'm still paying off.
Despite finishing summa cum laude and among the top six students in the class, I could not get hired anywhere, applying for multiple positions at all levels of government. Frustrated, I finally took an unrelated job in the private sector and there I have remained.
Not being able to pursue my dream and saddled with debt besides, I have always wondered if it was worth it. To this day, anyway, it has not.
