2% refi now, but it adjusts in time....  Isn't that how many borrowers got into this pickle?

on Bankers On Board

Should someone who is currently not behind on any mortgage payments successfully refi under this new program , will there be a negative impact on their credit score?

on Polo's Counter Intelligence

I'm with you, Oregon1, regarding Polo's statement that there is something wrong with someone that would ride MAX under a cemetery. He lost his credibility with me at that time.

Out of one side of his mouth he asks for us to accept those that share different ideals; then out of the other side pronounces anyone who thinks differently than him on the MAX subject has something seriously wrong with them.

on Student Debt

As a father, I always feared the coming expense to send my daughter to college.

Fortunately, at the time we were living in Louisiana, which has an unbelievable program; ?Tuition Opportunity Program for Students?, (TOPS).

http://www.lpb.org/programs/affordingcollege/tops.html

As I remember, ALL graduates of any Louisiana high school, having completed a minor amount of certain ?pre-college? courses during high school, and scoring at least average on the ACT, had their tuition completely paid by the TOPS program.

We only had to pay for her books, room and board, and living expenses.

on As We Are: Teen Parents

That was a very informative show for me.

I have a close relative who recently became a young mother. Hearing from Jayme and Dana gave me insight from their perspective. That you both for being so brave to come on the air.

on Olympic Trials and Tribulations

In the late summer of 1968, I was 11 and managed to shatter my elbow (stupid rope-swing bravado), ending up at home in bed for a month. All my friends were out playing ball, etc., and I was SO bored.

Then I fell in love. I?d never heard of them... The "Olympic Games" were in Mexico City. The greatest athletes in the world, with drama internally and externally!

Dick Fosbury: The ?Fosbury Flop?

Bob Beamon: The staccato long-jumper

At the awards ceremony, Tommie Smith and John Carlos raised their black-gloved fists as a symbol of Black Power.

George Foreman winning the gold for heavy weight boxing champ, and walking around the ring with a tiny American flag in his hand.

I could not wait for 1972! And I managed not to be in traction.

on As We Are: Obese People

Really good post, Scott.

Vivian, I think there are mostly valuable comments here today. We just need to overlook the few, sad, individuals who posted rude comments.

My whole life, I have been told I?m over-weight. I grew up in a family setting where my mom and dad constantly ridiculed fat/obese people (behind their backs, of course). ?Look at that guy?bet he?s never missed a meal..?. They constantly suggested diets for me and they were always on them.

The reality was that I was never over a reasonable weight for my height/body-type. At 35 I was 6? 2?, 210 lbs., and I?d be getting ?Reader?s Digest? diet tips in the mail from my mom?

At 50, I look back now at photos of me at 35, and I want to jump in a time-machine, return to the past, and straighten my folks out.

on The Region's Art

Sorry, Mel. I did not mean to be personal and don't think my comment was mean spirited.

You called the CNAA process "trite and insulting", then went further to say "I find the show disturbing..." due to the insider/outsider appearance.

So, I suggested that there is room for more than one awards show in the area and perhaps you should think about creating one which you would find more valuable.

Mel, your post sounds like sour grapes. If you don't like the way the CNAA is run, or the way award money is awarded; get the resources together, advertise in local publications, and start your own awards program.
