I just heard someone speaking about the "old Obama" as "radicalized" and in favor of "confiscatory taxation." What planet does that person live on??? Obama campaigned as a moderate and has been governing center right. I would say that this tax cut deal is a capitualtion to the hard right, so I am hoping that Obama does not move to a hard right presidency as Clinton did.

The corporate media (including NPR) has moved the center of our political discourse so far to the right that Reagan would be considered a liberal if he were alive today, and the healthcare law is painted as practically communist when it's essentially the same bill proposed by Republicans in 1993 and passed by Romney in Massachusetts some years later.  The progressive healthcare bill would have been single payer, and that was taken off the table before discussions even began.
