on Grandmas-In-Chief

As an immigrant in Portland, our parents's duty is to take care of their parents in our household.  In turn our grandparents take care of us when both of my parents work.  There are a lot of problems in this dynamic (taking care of old age parents) however most of us growing up with a lot of love, caring and patience in our big family. It is our culture to take care of our parents when they are old after they make so much scarify for us to become successful adults.  Their wisdom also is good for our kids.  The chain goes on and one for thousands of years.  This link works very well in Asian community.  It's all about love and respect to our elderly.  Our parents are everything to us.  It is one of the way to raise healthy family I think.

on Sam Scandal

The true leader should show his leadership by deciding if he should be in this honorable position for poeple of Portland whom looking up to him.

I hope media treated this incident with great humanity. It is time now for us to treat each other with love/empathy as one. One of our family did something wrong. Something that is unsuitable for his position in our community. I believe we agree with that. I wish that we treated him and his big mistake clamly and politely. He knew that this is not right. Everyone knew it. Just treat each other with kindness as much as we can.

It doesn't need to be scandal..sex..lie and a gay man. It is about human's mistakes. Someone who was trying to keep his personal life and his mistakes to himself. I wish we treat other human gently for his bad judgement and wrong doing.

on Asian-American Identities

In Thailand we call everyone who speak Thai, Thai. "Foreigner" we use to call foreign visitors from other countries. No other "label". Americans need to view "others" who live here as Americans. Minorities needs to become true "American" to end this victim/sad soap opera/divided issue. Both need to work on becoming one: American. So enough of "Asian American" or "African American" or "European American (do we have THAT?).
My two sons grew up here. They have Thai cultures in them BUT I raised them as AMERICAN!
