As a Clark College almuni, I was shocked when I heard the news of hate speech being spread around the campus. Especially due to the fact that I often worked with the office of multicultural affairs to help fight AGAINST hate speech and intolerance.

However, I am also a firm believer in the first ammendment and by not allowing the student to speak on his behave would be disrespecting the rights guaranteed to him by our constitution.

As far as the school's action, I think it was more than appropriate. They had many faculty members in psychology, sociology and history explain the consequences of hate, in addition to letting the student speak on his behalf.
