on Bomb Plot in Portland

One word:

Entrapment.

Another word or two: Let's stop funding these insanely out of control agencies like the FBI

on The A&O Cluster

As I have said many times before, the problem with the entire U.S. economy is that we no longer make so many products in this country. As long as this continues we will continue to spiral into 3rd world status. The shoe industry, being one of the worst examples of this trend, needs to start manufacturing here at home.  With over 90% of our shoes now made in China all they have to do is pull the plug on us and soon we won't even be able to walk anywhere.  Use your imagination to consider what might follow.

How about a commitment from Nike et al to actually make at least some of their products here in the states? I also call on Apple to use some of their billions of reserve dollars to start up some American plants.  By leading the way companies like Apple and Nike could help turn around the entire economy.

on RX: Containing Costs

It all comes down to the fact that there are insurance companies between us and true health care.

Why?  Why?  Why?

Get rid of all insurance companies and we cut the cost by a third or more.

Seems simple to me.

on The Fight Over Sugar Beets

You have hit the nail on the head.

I live in the trees and if one of the major growers conduct aerial spraying on their tree seedlings it's up to me to prove that I have been damaged by their overspray when the inevitable over-spraying occurs. This too is backwards.

Please do not slight Dwight. He is a gentleman and a scholar.

Watch the movie called Food, Inc.

You'll learn a lot about Monsanto........I would say that the company is the devil reincarnated, but I am afraid their goons would come after me.

We need to save seeds and stop all GMO idiocy.

Why do the European countries shun GMO food production?  Why do we allow Monsanto to continue their destructive folly?

Please ask your guests if they have ever spoken with Dwight Schrute about GMO beets.

I was raised in Pennsylvania and lived right down the road from PA's most well known beet farmer, Dwight Schrute.

Although I am sure that Dwight NEVER planted GMO beets, it is possible that he himself was genetically modified.
