on State Elections
We hear both sides talk about the need to create jobs, but they both seem to work against it. The R's talk about there not being any shovel ready jobs, that we don't give businesses the tax breaks they need, and we discourage businesses from
coming to the state. The D's talk about wanting to encourage renewable and sustainable industries as a new growth area for the economy to create jobs, and also think of new ways to incentivize private industry. Both sides give lip service to providing new ways for rural counties to boost their economies. Yet with all of this, both sides have been disassemblying one of the most successful vehicles for achieving all of these things - the Business Energy Tax Credit. This, and our renewable energy standard, have been major factors in numerous projects being built, jobs created, increasing revenue streams to rural counties, and attracting businesses to the state EVEN IN A DOWN ECONOMY. It seems like this is a win-win for both sides and yet both are trying to kill it. Why?
