Diana is absolutely right. Republicans would have no qualms about letting unemployment support lapse and to increase tax breaks for the very wealthy. We saw them do this during the Bush reign..why would things be any different now? President Obama has no choice but to compromise to assure some changes for the better.

Every Democrat who is unhappy with the fact that President Obama is now forced to make compromises should have thought of this when they didn't vote Democratic (or didn't vote at all ! ) in the midterm elections.  We have let the President down not the other way around. This president is one of the best hopes we have ever had to turn our country around, to improve our relationship with the rest of the world and to bring more equality and dignity to all Americans.  I ,for one, am praying for 4 more years so that Obama can have at least the same amount of time and resources to fix what the last president destroyed.
