Thank you, for your eloquent articulation in all the posts today! Now I understand my vague, ongoing angst about all things techno. (Thought it was simply because I was a Guttenbergian dinosaur.) -s

on Local Library
The libraries in our various Portland neighborhoods are one of the few community areas where people of all ages and persuasions gather. Just yesterday a group of 75-children of migrant workers went on a tour of our library and gathered for bilingual stories and crafts. Earlier in the month a group of elders took a series of classes called Cyber Seniors to introduce them to the foreign realm of technology. Also this Spring people gathered for citizenship classes; not to mention the huge volume of books-yes virtual -books that are still enjoyed by people who wish to delve a bit deeper than what is available on Internet.
The library is one of the last and best democratic institutions in this country.
Thanks, for your wonderful forum.

on Discovering David Douglas
Thanks! for this fascinating show. Was late for Christmas plans this AM because absolutely could not turnt this off. Lived in Oregon for 40 years and always curious about David Douglas, so will look forward to diving into the book. Our world would be a much smaller place without your wonderful radio station.
