I voted for Obama. That being said deficit trumps desire. These tax credits were supposed to be temporary and cannot be sustained in this economic climate. I am a homeowner and my husband is on unemployment and 4 years from retirement and Social security, but I am willing to forego tax credits and unemployment to tackle this deficit that will otherwise destroy this country. We will be owned by China, our children will be servants instead of leaders and our legacy will be one of greed and short-sighted stop gaps. I do not put unemployment or tax credits into my budget because I am not going to assume that someone wants to subsidize me and I do not really agree that subsidies work well. While I believe it is better to keep the middle class credits, it is not worth the deficit increase if they are attached to the rest of the compromise.
