on A Sustainable Auto Industry
Clean diesel technology is here now. We get close to 50 mpg with a CLEAN burning VW Jetta wagon. Similar cars are getting even better mileage in Europe..
Forget the idea that diesel is a dirty fuel. The exhaust from my car is not even noticeable.
And when we burn biodiesel it smells like hot french fries coming out of the tailpipe.

on Consumerism Confidence?
Simply put we have a society where too many people do nothing but push paper around.
If you don't produce a product or provide a NEEDED service you are essentially sucking off of the rest of us. A good example are the millions of bankers and financial thieves that orchestrated the theft of the US Treasury that is taking place right now.
Another example are the millions of people that make their living in the insurance industry.
These people need to go do some REAL work. Only then will the economies of the world turn around.

on Obama Holds 9 am Press Conference
Wow, chadrichins. Tell us how you really feel.
I have a suggestion for the show. Why not offer an hour to chadrichens and he could be the guest host. He may find out that it's not as easy as it appears to be.

on As We Are: Migrant Workers
As a privileged white U.S. born male I occasionally have not so nice feelings for my friends from south of the border. I work in the construction industry and have seen my wages driven down and friends lose jobs to undocumented immigrants. Lately when these feelings arise I try to remind myself that the specious border between the U.S. and Mexico is man made and was drawn after an illegal war and occupation.
Do I have any more right to be walking around here in North America than someone that was born a few 100 miles to the south? When I really think about it, the undocumented person from Mexico or Guatemala has parents and grandparents and great grandparents born on this continent.
My grandparents came over from Europe in 1902. Who, then, really has more of a right to be here?

on About That $700 Billion...
I suggest everyone pull their money from all banks. Join your local credit unions. It's easy to do. There is a huge difference between banks and credit unions.
For-profit banks remind me of our disgusting for-profit health care system in the U.S.

on About That $700 Billion...
Where is the outrage of the American people with this bailout boondoggle??
I can assure you that those that sit fat and happy at the top of these banking institutions are not going to become renters at any time in the near future. (This includes your guests.)
They will continue to do what they do quite well. Simply put, they will, along with the current and future administrations, create the smokescreens to steal from all of us and our children.

on About That $700 Billion...
Question for your guests:
Addressing the "Too big to fail" concept. Why give money to banks that will use the money to buy smaller banks, thereby creating larger institutions, reducing competition, and ultimately bringing about more banks that will be "Too big to fail" in the future.

on Veterans' Affairs
Mary Geddry is a saint and her eloquence and compassion is amazing. Thankyou for being able to put a voice to your experience and for giving us a glimpse of the compassion shared by the 3 Iraqi women.
Is it not sad that in today's world we are still sending young boys and girls to fight and kill. How are we as a society any better than warlords in Africa that use children as young as 7 or 8 to use as killing machines.
Please look past the references to religion (god knows we have fought too many wars over religious differences) in the following lyrics and join me in deciding that war is no longer an option. Only when we stop creating veterans will the problems of mental and physical health care for veterans cease.
Come on, people! Come on, children!
Come on down to the glory river.
Gonna wash you up, and wash you down,
gonna lay the devil down, gonna lay that devil down.
I got fury in my soul, fury's gonna take me to the glory goal.
In my mind I can't study war no more.
Save the people! Save the children! Save the country now!
Come on, people! come on, children!
Come on down to the glory river.
Gonna wash you up and wash you down.
Gonna lay the devil down, gonna lay that devil down.
Come on people! Sons and mothers!
Keep the dream of the two young brothers.
Gonna take that dream and ride that dove.
We could build the dream with love, I know,
We could build the dream with love, I know,
We could build a dream with love, children,
We could build the dream with love, oh people,
We could build the dream with love, I know,
We could build the dream with love.
2nd verse:
Come on, people! Come on, children!
There's a king at the glory river.
And the precious king, he loved the people to sing;
Babes in the blinkin' sun sang
"We Shall Overcome".
I got fury in my soul, fury's gonna take me to the glory goal.
In my mind I can't study war no more.
Save the people! Save the children! Save the country now!
-Laura Nyro singing "Save the Country"
