Because there was no hate speech at that discussion. But, then again, how would you know, Lew? Where you there?

My number one problem with all beliefs such as Mr Goncalves and the NSM is that if you don't believe exactly as they do, you are an enemy.
Don't get me wrong, I am also anti-racism and anti-ignorance, but this belief makes everyone either their friends, or thier enemy. There is no room in their philosophy for anyone else.
That should be another qualifier for hate speech: zero tolerance for anything other than your personal beliefs.

And no one should be afraid to attend or visit Clark College. It is one of the safest places in SW WA. I know that there are many that will not allow someone to be assaulted and just ignore it. Clark College is a safe place because of it's students, not because of teh administration or it's policies.

I am a Clark College student. This is a problem because it is allowed to be one.
The reason why you haven't seen the flier is because the college took down every copy and seems to have been doing all they can to make sure no one else sees it. The reason it was taken down was because it did not go through the ASCC flier approval process. No doubt due to the distributor believed it would not be allowed. The website the flier mentioned was http://www.nsm88.org/
Making any kind of hay about this is just what the people that spread this manure want. Now, their website is all over the news, the man responsible had his picture in the paper, and there are people openly proclaiming they are scared. Scared of what? If you are afraid, they have won!
The only thing to be truly scared of is that the college has taken away your right to self defense if attacked with deadly force. Call security? Why, so they can take pictures of the aftermath? When seconds count, the police are only minutes away. Neo-Nazi groups have a record of attacking people they see as enemies, and they believe they are in the right because they are convinced it is self defense. The man that spread the flier had the gall to say the NSM was about love, not hate. Truly, we are not anywhere near that stupid.
It is up to the students of the college, not President Knight and others that will still have a job tomorrow and the next day, to make this kind of hate unwelcome in our community. The students of the college must be brave enough to say what they want at their school, and to show these evil people that their propaganda is not welcome at the college. Le them put their mindless drivel up on a flier. I for one would love the opportunity to laugh at it's contents, and deride the scapegoating for one small group's failures blamed on everything but themselves.
If you always wait for the leaders to do something to make you feel secure and safe, you are waiting to be very dissapointed. The power to stand against evil is in you, you cannot get it from the executives in the school administration, the diversity committee, or anyone else.
